Diversity in Net Zero builds wasn’t lacking this year for finalists of the 2020 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence, powered by Avid Ratings Canada. From custom homes in the country, homes with budget-friendly mindfulness, suburban homes for growing families, a complete Net Zero renovation of an existing heirloom home, to an urban project that pushes the boundaries of density without losing heritage roots – qualified Net Zero builders did what they do best this year. And their projects show that there are a lot of options for today’s homeowners in Canada. Whether you’re prioritizing affordability or luxury, there is a net zero builder out there for you.
The competition recognizes excellence in Canadian new homes, renovations, communities, and marketing. And builders entered some incredible projects into the 2020 Net Zero Home Award category this year. To be eligible, homes must be labelled under the CHBA Net Zero Home Labelling program. Having the label as a competition requirement for this category ensures that all homes meet stringent technical requirements and are on a level playing field in terms of energy efficiency. Other categories in the competition include those for new homes, renovations, community development, and marketing.
